Exactly 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story movie debuted, establishing Pixar as a leading film company and bringing viewers to beloved characters like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now household names.

In 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a glimpse into the storyline but leaving viewers curious how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Toys

The preview reveals the young girl — who received the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a latest plaything, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie gets her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.

Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the toys seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it probably is.

Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is returned with his friends in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), traveling with a carnival and helping giveaway items find good homes.

Certainly, the filmmakers will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him show up in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether his partner will have returned with Woody. And where is the stuntman toy (the star)?

Continuity from the Last Installment

At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before departing for his fresh path was pass his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of the toy domain. The clip displays the insignia attached to her outfit.

It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the toys.
